Twin Alternators

Barrus are the only company to supply twin 50 and 110 amp alternators as standard for the Shire 35, 40, 45 and 50 engines. By fitting twin alternators, this ensures the start battery and domestic batteries are rapidly charged.

 Rapid Hot Water System

Fed up with waiting for hot water? We have added twin thermostats to 45 and 50 models to separate the cooling and calorifier circuits in order to deliver hot water faster and maintain the temperature as long as you require.

 240 Volt Optional Alternator

Need to power a microwave, cooker, washer, stereo? We have designed in a 240v alternator to power all domestic appliances and give that little bit of added comfort.

 Fuel Primer

We have also thought about the installation of the engine. By adding a fuel pre-filter and primer we can give you the best quality filtration system and ensure that factory quality levels are maintained throughout the installation.

 Sump Drain Pump

To make it as easy as possible to drain the oil and maintain the engine, we have added a handy sump drain pump.

 E Coating

All additional external components are black E coated for extra adhesion and corrosive resistance. E coating is far superior to paint in marine applications and is used by Rolls Royce and other MoD contractors.

Other manufacturers avoid using E coating as it is an expensive process.

Compare the torque levels with other engines. All models have high torque at low speed.
